Knowledge is power. Have you ever heard of this saying? I sure have. Yet somehow, I feel like I truly didn’t understand this until these last few days. Although, let’s be honest, I had never put much thought into the saying previously either. Why am I bringing this up? Well, due to the fact that I suddenly feel 1,000 times smarter today than I did on Monday. No joke.
For those of you who currently follow my business Instagram account (@sharpshooter.photo), then you most likely already know that I just attended the Hustle & Flow LA workshop on March 10th and 11th…what an experience! About a year or two ago, I started following the Hustle & Flow Instagram account, probably while sitting at my full-time job in absolute misery while not at all believing that I could successfully build my photography business into a career. I began watching all the stories being shared by Brittani and Jon Hon who are the owners and amazing educators at Hustle & Flow. I liked these two. I liked them a lot. Their workshops piqued my interest, but truthfully, I was still skeptical and would have preferred to use my two weeks of vacation with my husband.
Did you read that? TWO WEEKS OF VACATION. Do you know how much I love to travel? Maybe not because I have yet to write about that topic, but let me tell you…two weeks per year is definitely not enough vacation time for me, so how was I supposed to squeeze in a workshop that only takes place on weekdays?
So instead, I purchased the Hustle & Flow online course just to test the waters and fell in love with the mass amount of content that became available to me. I was locked in. From then on, I would not shut up about going to a workshop one day, but that was the problem, I kept saying “one day”. As much as I would love to say that I took a leap of faith on my photography business, I didn’t. Rather, I was forcefully pushed by the situations that life threw my way. Suddenly, time became available to me though; aside from jumping for joy for my mental health’s sake, one of the first things I did was purchase my ticket to the Hustle & Flow LA workshop, although it was months away.
In the meantime, I began working on my website and generating new ideas to experiment with, some more successful than others. The other thing that I began doing was really digging into my mindset, with the help of Brittani’s Mindset Bootcamp course and the book titled You are a Badass at Making Money, both of which are still in the works. I knew that developing a strong and healthy mindset was an important piece to this puzzle and I have truly been able to identify significant changes in my outlook since, but I also believe it will forever be a work in progress and that’s okay.
Fast forward to the workshop this week – two full days of insanely overwhelming, thought-provoking, truth bombs and knowledge just dropped on me – ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! The Hons and all of the other guest speakers taught things from work flow to blogging (which I loved a ton) to advertising to social media to mindset to lead nurturing and so much more. As much as I would love to share more in detail here, my plan is to get started on implementing all of this knowledge into my business. Why? Because knowledge is power. And right now, I’m feeling pretty damn powerful.
I am proud of myself for getting into that room and becoming part of such a badass community. I am proud of myself for not being scared to invest in my business education as markets are constantly evolving, meaning that I need to evolve, too. I am proud of myself for gaining the tools and knowledge I need to become a successful business owner and to better serve my clients. I am proud of myself for pursuing my dream life with more than two weeks of vacation per year. And I will be proud of myself as I continue growing and immersing myself into this new business lifestyle.
I cannot thank the Hons enough for being so caring, passionate, and dedicated to the Hustle & Flow community. Already looking forward for all that the future holds.
SCARED MONEY DON’T MAKE MONEY.
With knowledge and passion,
The SharpShooter
